3 seasonal steps to maintain your sports floor

1. Check Moisture Levels

In the Midwest, it is especially important to do seasonal flooring inspections. This is in part due to the drastic changes in temperature between seasons and to ensure there are no leaking or drainage concerns in any part of your facility surrounding the sports floor.

Most manufacturers recommend keeping your facility’s humidity levels between 35 percent and 50 percent year round.

2. Use The Right Cleaning Products

In the Midwest, winter season is full of salt and de-icing chemicals. If not protected properly, sports floors are vulnerable to adverse reactions just like our vehicles. It’s important to use cleaning products that are designed protect your sports floor(s) and eradicate salt and de-icing chemicals.

Note: We highly recommend Bona’s SuperCourt formulas. Not only do they offer a year round cleaner, they offer a winter cleaner that specifically targets de-icing chemicals and salts. Learn more from one of our sports floor experts at (763)633-1170.

3. Schedule a Deep Clean/Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps remove stubborn dirt and restores your floor’s shine.

If you have already worked with or are planning to work with FLR Sanders for your flooring needs, we will always send our maintenance schedule towards the New Year.

Note: Due to multiple factors, not every district is able to sustain annual maintenance. Talk with one of our sports floor experts to find a schedule that fits your needs and doesn’t jeopardize your floor’s integrity.
