Keeping up with your sports floor isn’t always an easy task! Depending on your floor’s wood type, finish type, and other factors, maintenance can be daunting. Here are five easy tasks to help increase your floor’s lifespan!
1. Sweep Frequently
Ideally, you should sweep your sports floor daily. This removes dust, dirt, and debris that can scratch and dull your floor’s finish.
2. Clean Spills Quickly
When you see a spill, clean it up quickly! Blot the spill with an absorbent cloth, then gently mop with a cleaner/water solution.
Tip: We recommend (and personally use) Bona’s SuperCourt *Winter* Formula Cleaner during the winter months and Bona’s SuperCourt Cleaner all other times of year! Our team of experts can help you find the right choice.
3. Check Your Facility’s Temperature
HVAC units are your sports floor’s silent guardian! Daily ensure your facility’s temperature and humidity levels are being controlled properly. Excess moisture or dryness can warp wood floors and damage surfaces.
4. Address Scuff Marks
Scuff marks from shoes should be addressed promptly. Always use manufacturer-recommended scuff removers to maintain your sports floor’s integrity and maintain a uniform appearance.

5. Check For Uneven Traction
Leading from point two, check for missed spills. Sticky spots on a sports floor can affect player performance and safety. Address these spills and spots with appropriate cleaning as needed.
